About Karen

I was born and raised in Southern California, by my immigrant Guatemalan mother. As the daughter of an immigrant and single parent, I learned early on that struggle was a way of life, and lived in survival mode with no room to pursue my dreams.

Over time, however, something in me shifted and I began to change the narrative of my story.

Through therapy, coaching and various holistic modalities I worked with, I began to see beyond my traumas, fears and limiting beliefs, and reclaimed my personal power, confidence and independence.

Realizing my worth, my gifts and talents, left me with the deep desire to help others do the same for themselves. This is when I took my biggest leap of faith and launched my coaching practice.

Now, I get to live a life with great meaning and purpose, holding space for others in their journey of healing, self-discovery and transformation. I am honored and grateful to get to play such a vital role in the lives of those I serve.

If you are here, reading these words, I pray they have brought you a sense of hope, because healing and transforming your life can be lonely and isolating, but it doesn’t have to be that way. The right support will help you feel empowered and inspired to keep going, even in those times when giving up feels easier to do.

There is no better time than now and no better place to start than with you.

Family Life

When discussing my personal life, I use the terms "tribe" and "family" interchangeably, because those closest to me aren't all blood relations, but relations by choice. They are the people who've given me all the space to heal and become the person I was created to be. It took time and effort, but it was in learning to love and accept myself that I became open to receiving love and the support I'd always longed for but didn't always get. After losing my mother in 2007, I became determined to live an intention life that honors her memory and legacy. I am also pretty proud of the life I am co-creating with my husband, with whom I share a beautiful blended family consisting of our four kids, their partners, and four grandkids. I am often asked what I would change if I could go back in time, and the truth is that I wouldn't change a thing. Every experience has served a great purpose in my life and every person has taught me great lessons, not only about myself, but about life itself.

• Favorite food: Traditional Guatemalan breakfast (black beans, eggs with turkey weenies and fried plantains!)

• Guilty Pleasures: Haagen Dazs Rocky Road ice cream and binge watching tv with my husband
